On May 16, the International SOS Telephone Day, the first joint SOS telephone of the Women Against Violence Network, based on feminist principles, started operating. The SOS phone number is 0800 300339 and is free for calls from all mobile and landline operators.
On that occasion, at the conference in the Media Center, the public was informed that the Network was officially formalized, i.e. registered under the name of the Alliance of Women’s Non-Governmental Organizations, the Women Against Violence Network, which consists of 28 organizations from Serbia, among which the Roma Center for Women and 23 out of 28 organizations provide an SOS phone service.
The Union of Women’s Non-Governmental Organizations ‚Women’s Network Against Violence’ was created from the informal Network ‘Women Against Violence’, which has been in existence since 2005.
Dragana Veljović, coordinator of the Women Against Violence Network, Mina Mihajlović, coordinator of the Women Against Violence Network – History of the Women Against Violence Network and statistical data on the number of calls and Jasmina Nikolić, Victimology Society of Serbia, spoke at the conference on the occasion of the start of the first joint SOS phone. The conference was also attended by Nada Đuričković, president of the Daje organization.
