The main activity since its establishment has been working on the SOS telephone. The initiation of the association arose spontaneously with the desire that women are not alone, it was enough for women to be together and to talk, not to be silent about what is happening to them.

    Vision

Vision of the Daje Roma Center for Women and Children The Daje Roma Center for Women and Children strives for a society without discrimination and violence in which all Roma women are equal in private and public life. Our Aim

The aim of the Association is to improve all social mechanisms in order to prevent sexual, economic and all other forms of violence and discrimination against children and women of the Roma nationality, as the most drastic forms of violation of women's and children's human rights provided for by the Constitution, the law and international documents.

    Our Work

The Roma Center for Women and Children Daje has been actively working to improve women's rights since it was founded in 2001. The main activity since its establishment has been working on the SOS telephone. The initiation of the association arose spontaneously with the desire that women are not alone, it was enough for women to be together and to talk, not to be silent about what is happening to them. The main target group are Roma women who do not have the possibility of obtaining information about the possible use of their rights in the area of protection from violence, due to their great isolation because they live in settlements on the outskirts of Belgrade and do not know the language of the majority. In addition to them, the indirect target group are their family members, children and other women in their environment, who also need help and protection, as well as institutions, institutions and other civil society organizations that deal with this topic. We have countless workshops with the theme of violence behind us. About 122 women contact us annually. Our users are Roma women and children regardless of age and educational and social status.

The organization has good cooperation with most Belgrade municipalities, where they cooperate with the police, centers for social work, schools, health centers in cases of discrimination or violence against Roma women. Cooperation was achieved with the Praxis organization and the institution of the Protector of Citizens. They have particularly good cooperation with the Center for Minority Rights, the Autonomous Women's Center and the legal service of the Municipality of Zvezdara. Cooperation was achieved with the Roma editorial office of the First Program of Radio Belgrade, in order to improve the visibility of the work of the Daje Roma Center for Women and Children. Our free SOS line 0800 002 007 works five days a week for 5 hours a day. In addition to this number, mobile numbers 063 340 365 and 060 131 83 55 are available to our users 24 hours a week. Four female consultants are on duty at the SOS telephone 5 days a week for 5 hours each, which on a weekly basis amounts to 25 hours, which is 125 hours of duty in one month. The organization also provides individual consultations, which are carried out by appointment, 4 days a week, lasting from half an hour to 45 minutes. We provide a general information service on the legal aspects of domestic and sexual violence in accordance with the laws and goals of the association.

During the previous year, the organization fulfilled the conditions for obtaining a license to work on the SOS telephone for working with women who survived gender-based violence. Licensing of the SOS telephone service represents an important step in the work of the organization - in this way, the standards of SOS telephone work are harmonized with the national regulations in social protection, and the quality of services for women who have survived violence has been raised to a higher level. The organization initiated the establishment of new women's organizations dealing with the prevention and fight against gender-based violence and connecting them within the framework of the informal network "United Romani Women Against Violence", which the Daje Roma Center for Women and Children currently coordinates. The establishment of the United Romani Women Against Violence network aims to make the services of the area available to more women who have survived violence. The network currently has eleven member organizations - Roma Center for Women and Children "Daje" Belgrade - Voždovac, "Sunce" Obrenovac, "Nada" Belgrade - Zvezdara, Integrative Global Center Kragujevac, "Successful Women" Kostolac, Center for the Development of the Roma Community "Amaro Drom" Smederevska Palanka, Center for Creative Development Eva Lazarevac, Roma Center "De Andre" Belgrade - Zemun, Roma Women's Association of Braničevo District "Ruž" Kostolac, Roma Women's Initiative Žabalj and Center for Mothers "Aurora - MINE" Zvezdara.

We have good cooperation with most Belgrade municipalities, we cooperate with the police, centers for social work, schools, health centers, Praxis, the Protector of Citizens and all the necessary actors to provide support for women to get out of violence. We have a built-in approach in working with women who have experience with trauma, in this sense we mostly work on psychosocial support of women by working on the SOS telephone, but also psychological consultations for women who have survived violence, which are carried out by appointment in the premises of the organization. We pay special attention to informing users about the ways to obtain personal documents, as well as the possibilities for providing free legal assistance in accordance with the regulations.
