FRIST WORKSHOP
Name of the workshop: Writing a diary as a way to overcome the trauma of violence and everyday stress Location and date of event: The workshop was held on 29.12.2022. in the settlement of Veliki Mokri Lug, on the territory of the municipality of Zvezdara in Belgrade. We received the service of space for the workshop from the association “Women’s Roma Center Nada”. Participants: The workshop was attended by 10 women from this settlement and members of the Association Daje: Maja Škorić, Nada Đuričković and Anđela Močnik Petković.
Goal of the workshop: The goal of the workshop was to introduce the participants to the benefits of writing a personal diary as a way to overcome everyday stress that our users are exposed to due to the effects of a number of factors (including poverty, living in isolation, domestic violence, discrimination, unsafe living conditions). Our experience shows that most Roma women show resistance to psychological support, conversations with professionals. We discussed ways to keep a diary and its benefits such as defining and directing emotions.
Reached:At the workshop, we accepted that keeping a diary was important and for this purpose they were assigned material for this purpose. Also, leaflets with new phone numbers (lawyers and psychologists) and 10 New Year’s packages for children from the settlement were distributed.
SECOND WORKSHOP Name of the workshop: Creative work knitting as a way to overcome the trauma of violence and everyday stress Location and date of event: The workshop was held in Zemun polje, on 24.01.2023., in the premises of partner organization Center for Women and Children Victoria
Participants: The workshop was attended by 12 women from the settlement and members of the association, Nada Đuričković, Jelena Marinković and Dženet Koko. Goal of the workshop: The goal of this workshop was to present the participants with the benefits of creative work for overcoming everyday stress and reducing the emotional consequences of trauma caused by violence. For this reason, the participants were distributed packages that contained accessories and knitting material. During the workshop, the topic of the possibilities of continuing education, changing professions and professional development expressed by Roma women from this local community was opened. Reached: At the workshop, a legal and psychological clinic within the Loreal project was presented (women are encouraged to contact us for psychological and legal support) and they were given knitting accessories and food packages. Also, leaflets with new phone numbers (lawyers and psychologists) were distributed. Women openly expressed their desire to participate in psychological consultations
THIRD WORKSHOP Name of the workshop: Introducing users to the new space and an open approach for further cooperation
Introducing old users to the new space, so that, in the future, they know where our space is in which they are welcome. We moved to the headquarters of the company. The important thing is that we won’t be moving anymore.Location and date of event: The workshop was held at the headquarters of the association, in the new offices in Gostivarska 28, on 21.02.2023.
Participants: The workshop was attended by 15 women from the settlements of Veliki Mokri Lug and Marinkova bara, Kamendin and Zemun polje. The workshop was led by members of the Association Daje: Nada Đuričković, Jelena Marinković, Dženet Koko and Anđela Močnik-Petković.
Among these women were perennial beneficiaries of our association’s services. Most women have more than two children. Goal of the workshop: Our idea was to give them less worries in the coming days about feeding their families. Our goal is to start thinking about themselves with less worry and to start making decisions. The purpose of it all is to realize that they too can contribute to the household budget and think about what they would like to do. Reached: Twenty women participated in the workshop. They are familiar with the open use of the new space and the extended service of the psychological and legal clinic. Women were pleased with us because they responded in large numbers as well as the fact that they came with chilldren.It is especially important to us because they are familiar with the new space that is in our permanent ownership.
FOURTH WORKSHOP Name of the workshop: Visit to users from rural areas on the outskirts of Belgrade Location and date of event: The workshop was held on 14.03.2023. in rural parts of the city of Belgrade, in rural areas on the territory of the municipality of Mladenovac. Participants: It is intended for women who could not come to the workshop that was held in our premises. We went on a tour of women who live in isolation in rural areas, they are also our perennial beneficiaries. These women’s institutions are physically inaccessible and can only reach them if they have the money to transport
Goal of the workshop: The workshop had the same content as the workshop that was held in our premises. We made an agreement that, when they have the opportunity and the need, they come to our premises for consultations within the legal and psychological clinic. Reached: We found out that they are interested in training for some women’s crafts because they can provide services from home to their neighbors. We shared food packages with the same goal of reducing their concerns about feeding their families, at least for a short time. It is our wish that in this, small period, they can think of themselves as a person who can make decisions. It is important to us that these decisions are in terms of self-care. We achieved this in the workshop
FIFTH WORKSHOP Name of the workshop: How are we now, after many years while the official name of the workshop “How can I love myself?”
Location and date of event The workshop was held on March 20, 2023 in the premises of the Belgrade Palace Hotel. Participants: The women who participated in the workshop are from different cities, long-term beneficiaries. Some of the participants of the workshop have become our new collaborators. Among the participants were new users. This has contributed to the workshop having different dynamics. Goal of the workshop: The goal of the workshop is to: Check, live, the state and situation of perennial beneficiaries, and see live and listen to new users.
Reached: Openness and spontaneity prevailed during the workshop. New associates told their personal stories, shared their experiences of violence while perennial participants talked about situations that are in their city / municipality regarding the area of violence, security and discrimination. At the end of the workshop, we agreed that women could write about the situation that is happening in their city / municipality regarding violence, security or discrimination. It is important for us to have the resources to support women. In accordance with the name of the workshop, and as part of the eight-march events, we gave women “Gift cards” so that they could buy themselves a gift.
SIXTH WORKSHOP Name of the workshop: Joint workshop with decision makers Location and date of event: The workshop was held on April 7, 2023 in the premises of GO Voždovac in Belgrade. Participants: The workshop was attended by more than 20 participants, representatives of local authorities, competent institutions and the civil sector. With this workshop in the same area were Roma women and decision-makers, in fact residents of settlements and representatives of local authorities. Goal of the workshop: The goal of this workshop is to enable women from settlements, who are often asked at the counters what document they still need and how to get some rights, and representatives of institutions (CRS, Health Center, Police, Protector of Citizens, Offices of the Municipality of Vozdovac) to ask questions and make an agreement on easier decision-making. Finding lapses in procedures. Reached: The participants were presented with the “Protocol for improving cooperation and development of integrative social protection intended for women victims of domestic and partner violence and prevention of child marriagein the local community”. After an active discussion, it was agreed to continue and improve the existing cooperation of all actors at the local level in order to prevent and reduce the rate of negative occurrence of child marriages as well as all forms of domestic and partner violence..
